Important information:

  • In order to get a license in Texas while under 18 a student MUST complete:

    • 24 classroom hours

    • 14 instructor driving hours (7 driving hours and 7 observation hours)

    • 30 parent driving hours (20 daytime hours and 10 nighttime hours)

  • Students must be at least 14 to enroll in driver’s ed, at least 15 to get the learner's license/permit, and at least 16 to get their driver's license

  • The classroom portion of our course is 2 weeks long (Monday through Wednesday), plus homework hours. During the first week, they will take their written test for the learner license/permit. Upon passing this test, students will be given a certificate that can then be taken up to the DPS to have their permit issued (provided they’re 15 years old, if they are 14 years old at the time of class, they will be eligible to receive it upon their 15th birthdate). Once the student has obtained the permit, they can start working on their instructor and parent driving hours. Students have 6 months from their first day of class to complete their instructor driving hours.

  • A student must complete all the required instructor driving/parent driving hours, be at least 16 years old, and have held their permit for 6 months before they are eligible to take the road test for their driver's license.
