ATTENTION:
Please be sure to read ALL of the following information so you can ensure you have everything needed for your test date! Any missing documents or late arrivals will incur a $25 reschedule fee and you will need to come back at a later date to test!
***Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the start of your chosen test time, with all required paperwork printed for the office to check. Please ensure you only use BLACK ink to sign any documents; the State of Texas does not accept any other color of ink on forms- it must be plain black ink!***

The Third-Party Skills Testing (TPST) program was implemented September 1, 2014, authorizing Commercial Driver Education schools that meet requirements set by the Department to administer the driving skills examination.
Denton Driving School is an approved Third-Party Skills Testing school and may administer the driving skills examination to those who meet the criteria.
If you are 16 years of age or older (OR you're over 18 years old, but completed a teenage driver's education course), you must present:
- A valid Texas Learners Driver License that has been held for more than six months
- Possess a PRINTED valid “FOR DRIVER LICENSE ONLY” Texas Driver Education Certificate (DE-964) showing completion of a Driver Education Course
- A PRINTED certificate from the DPS Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) video and receive a certificate dated within 90 days of the skills examination. You can find more information on the ITTD program here.
- A parent or legal guardian
If you are between the ages of 18-24, you must present:

- A valid Texas Learners Driver License
- Possess a PRINTED valid ADE-1317 showing completion of a Texas Driver Education Course
- A PRINTED certificate from the DPS Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) video and receive a certificate dated within 90 days of the skills examination. You can find more information on the ITAD program here.
If you are 25-78 years old, you must present:
- A valid Texas Learners Driver License
- A PRINTED certificate from the DPS Impact Texas Adult Drivers (ITAD) video and receive a certificate dated within 90 days of the skills examination. You can find more information on the ITAD program here.
We do not test anyone 79+ years old as they have health requirements to meet that we cannot accommodate.
The DPS Road Test fee is $75.00. All testing clients are welcome to reserve in advance the use of a Denton Driving School's vehicle for their road tests, for an additional fee of $50.00. If you decide to use your personal vehicle for the road test, this vehicle must have a current/valid inspection/registration sticker, front and rear Texas license plates, and physical proof of current/valid vehicle liability insurance for the vehicle, the person taking the test does not need to be on the policy (present a paper copy).
If you are interested in the TXT Submission Program, please be sure you bring your Social Security Card (or at least know the full number) to your testing appointment! It is an additional $40 fee (paid the day of) to apply and expedite your license.
If you need to reschedule your road test, you must give Denton Driving School a minimum notice of 72 hours. There is a $25 reschedule fee if you contact us within the 72-hour window of your road test. The same window applies for a refund/test cancellation, you must contact the school with a minimum 72-hour notice to be eligible for a refund.

$40.00 PROCESSING FEE AFTER PASSING YOUR TEST
When using this option, you typically receive your paper license online within 3-10 days, the permanent one comes in the mail a few weeks later, but you are able to legally drive with the paper temporary license until the permanent card comes in the mail.
State of Texas requirements for electronic filing (if you do not fit these criteria, you will receive a sealed envelope with your test results and documents to take to the DPS for your license-an appointment is needed for DPS, most of them do not allow walk-ins):
- You have your Social Security Card OR know the Social Security number.
- No DPS appointments within the last 2 months.
- If you have tested with DPS prior, you will not qualify.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen AND born in the U.S.
- No pending tickets/citations.
- Your permit address must match where you currently reside.
- You do not have a paper permit (must have hard copy).
